Police have released a detailed reconstruction of the final hours of a man found unconscious on a remote stretch of coastline, mapping his movements from the moment he checked in at the airport to the instant he collapsed on the sand — a timeline investigators describe as “deeply unsettling, but now finally clear.”
The findings, based on CCTV footage, phone data, transaction records, and witness statements, provide the first coherent account of what happened in the hours before he lost consciousness — and address the question that has haunted the investigation: did he intentionally enter the sea?
From Airport to Coastline: A Methodical Route
According to police, the man arrived at the airport alone shortly after 6:40 a.m. Surveillance footage shows him calm, composed, and carrying only a small backpack. There were no signs of distress, agitation, or confusion.
He did not check any luggage.
At 7:18 a.m., he boarded a domestic flight. Phone records indicate he sent no messages and made no calls during the journey.
After landing, CCTV captured him exiting the terminal and immediately hiring a car — a decision investigators now believe was premeditated.
“He knew exactly where he was going,” a senior officer said. “There was no hesitation.”
The Drive No One Expected
GPS data from the rental vehicle shows he bypassed hotels, cafés, and populated areas, driving directly toward an isolated coastal road rarely used by tourists.
At 9:02 a.m., the car stopped at a beach access point with no facilities, no lifeguard presence, and no nearby residences.
The vehicle was locked.
His wallet, phone, and keys were left inside.
Witnesses and the Final Moments
A local fisherman later told police he saw a man matching the description standing at the shoreline, shoes off, staring at the water for several minutes.
“He didn’t look drunk or unsteady,” the witness said. “He looked like someone thinking very hard.”
Footprints recovered from the sand show he walked toward the water — then stopped.
Investigators confirmed that the prints indicate hesitation, with partial steps and weight shifts inconsistent with running or stumbling.
Shortly afterward, emergency services were alerted when another passerby found him unconscious several meters from the tide line.
The Answer Police Now Give
After reviewing medical findings and environmental data, police say the conclusion is not what many feared.
According to the official statement:
“There is no evidence that he intended to harm himself.
The evidence supports a sudden medical event occurring after he entered shallow water, not a deliberate act.”
Doctors believe a rapid-onset medical condition, likely exacerbated by cold water and physical stress, caused him to lose consciousness. He was then carried partially back toward shore by the receding tide.
Why the Case Felt So Disturbing
Investigators acknowledge that the precision of his movements — the isolated location, the absence of communication, the deliberate route — created the appearance of intent.
But police stress that appearance is not evidence.
“People sometimes seek solitude for reasons that have nothing to do with self-harm,” one detective said. “In this case, the data tells a different story than the fear.”
Case Status
The man remains hospitalized in stable condition. Police say the case will remain open pending full medical confirmation, but no criminal involvement is suspected.
A final report is expected within days.
