Tragic autistic girl, 7, drowned in golf course pond after she ‘escaped childminder through gap in park fence’
A TRAGIC seven-year-old girl was found drowned on a golf course after she escaped her childminder through a gap in the fence, an inquest heard.
Nyla May Bradshaw was found dead in a pond in South Yorkshire last month after she was reported missing.
Her mum Hayley reportedly left the autistic youngster with a specialist SEND childminder but just two hours later, she received a text saying Nyla had vanished.
An inquest heard today “during the course of the day she was taken out to a park in the Owston area of Doncaster”.
Nyla then passed through a hole in a fence and headed towards nearby woodland.
Coroner’s officer Jane McDonnell said a search was launched after the childminder raised the alarm with police and the youngster’s family.
She was later found unresponsive and face down in a pond on Owston Hall golf course in Doncaster.
Nyla was rushed to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but was tragically declared dead at 1.18pm.
Senior coroner Nicola Mundy adjourned the full inquest at Doncaster Coroner’s Court until December 8.
Family friend Charlotte Emma said the Ofsted-registered childminder had been told that Nyla was a “flight risk”.
She explained the youngster’s mum left Nyla with the new babysitter, who was “recommended over Facebook”, as her regular minder was fully booked.
Devastated parents Hayley and Kieran Bradshaw paid tribute to their daughter online.
In a heartbreaking post on her Facebook page, Nyla’s mother wrote: “It breaks my heart to write this, but today we lost our beautiful daughter Nyla May Bradshaw at just 7 years old.
“She was our whole world full of love, laughter, and the brightest smile that could light up any room.
“She brought so much joy into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her.”
Her dad Kieran Bradshaw described her as his “best friend” and an “amazing daughter”.
He wrote on Facebook: “You were so loved Nyla you touched everyone’s heart that ever met you.
“I’ll never ever go a moment without you in my thoughts.”
