A heartbreaking discovery has shaken Randolph County, North Carolina, after a 7-year-old boy with autism who had been missing for two days was found dead.
The child, identified as Liam Alexander King, was reported missing on September 7 near Forest Hills Drive. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Liam’s body was discovered on the morning of September 9 in a pond close to the area where he was last seen.
In an emotional statement on Facebook, Sheriff Greg Seabolt said:
“We are devastated. I wish things had turned out differently — for Liam’s family, for this community, and for the hundreds of search-and-rescue personnel and volunteers who poured their hearts into finding him.”
The discovery comes after an extensive three-day search, involving deputies, fire crews, rescue teams, drones, K-9 units, and volunteers. Despite the efforts, the outcome has left a community in mourning.
Authorities have not yet released the official cause of death. The case remains under investigation as deputies continue to gather details surrounding the tragedy.
