London – Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed that Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle are no longer senior working members of the Royal Family.
The Palace stated that the decision was the result of “a combination of personal choice and circumstances that made it no longer possible for them to carry out their official duties on behalf of the Crown.”
For Prince Andrew, this comes after years of controversy and public scrutiny surrounding his associations and legal troubles. Palace officials said that the Duke of York will continue to support selected charities privately but will not return to royal duties.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure was described as a mutual agreement between the couple and the Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who now live in California, will focus on their independent charitable work and media projects while no longer representing the monarchy in an official capacity.
“This has been a complex process, but the King believes this is the right decision for the Royal Family and for the institution moving forward,” a royal spokesperson said.
Royal commentators say the announcement marks a historic reshaping of the monarchy, leaving the core group of working royals smaller than ever.
