It has been one month since 8-year-old Cile Steward was swept away by flash floods in Hill Country, and her family has just released an emotional statement — a mixture of grief, gratitude, and a desperate call for continued hope.
Her parents, CiCi and Will Steward, spoke publicly for the first time since the tragic event, expressing their heartbreak but also their deep appreciation for the ongoing efforts to find their daughter.
“It has been a month of sorrow, loss, and waiting for news of our precious Cile,” the statement begins.
“We are shattered by this tragedy, but we are also overwhelmed with immense gratitude for the outpouring of support as we navigate the unimaginable.”
The Stewards addressed their message directly to the brave search and recovery teams who continue to comb the flooded areas for any sign of Cile:
“To the courageous search and recovery teams who have worked tirelessly to bring Cile home: there are no words to fully express our thanks. Your dedication means everything to our family, and your relentless efforts give us hope that we might soon be able to bring her home.”
“Please don’t give up on our little girl.”
They also extended heartfelt thanks to their family, friends, and wider community:
“To our family, friends, and community: your love, support, and prayers have been a lifeline. We are forever grateful for every kind word and every act of care. We couldn’t get through this without you.”
Finally, they shared a personal message to their beloved daughter — whom they affectionately call “Cile Bug”:
“Our love for you is endless and infinite. We feel you everywhere, and we are grateful for every moment of your beautiful, short life. We will miss you every day until we meet again, sweet girl.”
The statement closes simply, yet powerfully:
With love,
CiCi and Will Steward
