No champagne problems here — Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged!
The pop superstar made the big announcement in an Instagram post on Tuesday that included a photo of Kelce down on one knee embracing Swift and a close-up of a diamond ring.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” she captioned the post.
The latest chapter in their love story comes after two years of dating. The couple famously started seeing each other after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end publicly stated on his New Heights podcast in July 2023 that he had tried — and failed — to connect with Swift at her Eras Tour show in Kansas City via a friendship bracelet he made with his phone number on it.
“If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it,” Kelce told his brother and cohost, Jason Kelce, at the time. He also admitted he was “a little butthurt [that] I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
As Swift herself sings, all’s well that ends well to end up with [Kelce], though. Apparently his podcast comments didn’t go unnoticed, because rumors swirled all that cruel summer that the two were dating. The duo first stepped out together at Kelce’s Chiefs game on Sept. 24, where Swift was seen cheering him on alongside his mother, Donna.

Relentless media and social media coverage ensued as Swift continued to cheer him on at his games — including the Super Bowl, where the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers — and the two appeared together on the Oct. 14, 2023 episode of Saturday Night Live.
Kelce also memorably flew around the world in his NFL off season to attend several of Swift’s Eras Tour shows. Every time Kelce was in attendance, Swift would change the lyrics to her final song “Karma” to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.” He even served as a backup dancer of sorts, joining her on stage for part of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
And, of course, their relationship has seemingly been immortalized through Swift’s music as well. On her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, it’s been speculated that the songs “The Alchemy” and “So High School” are inspired by Kelce, with the latter now feeling particularly prophetic. After all, he knew what he wanted, and boy he got her.

It’s been an era of big announcements for Swift, who revealed earlier this month that her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, will arrive Oct. 3. Fittingly she appeared as a guest on Kelce’s podcast to give fans all the details on the project, and open up on their romance.
“This podcast has done a lot for me. I owe a lot to this podcast. This podcast got me a boyfriend, ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago,” Swift joked on the episode. “I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,'” Swift marveled.
