In a chilling new revelation, Evan Stone, the brother of missing 23-year-old Kayla Stone, says he found unsettling evidence that someone had been inside their family home the night before she disappeared.
According to Evan, the front door was left slightly open when he returned home from work — and a single candle was still burning on the kitchen counter, something Kayla “never did.”
“She was careful about everything,” Evan told reporters. “She hated leaving anything lit. But that candle — it was like someone wanted us to notice it.”
Detectives have since confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting that whoever entered the house either had a key or was trusted enough to be let in.
“That’s what makes this detail so important,” said lead investigator Captain Elise Warren. “It narrows our focus to the people who knew her best.”
Neighbors also reported hearing quiet footsteps near the Stone residence shortly after midnight, but security cameras in the area failed to capture a clear image.
“It’s not what we found that scares me,” Evan added. “It’s what we didn’t.”
Authorities are now reviewing Kayla’s phone records and doorbell footage to determine who might have been inside the home that night.
Police say the discovery could mark a major turning point in the case — one that may finally reveal who was with Kayla before she vanished.
