The mother of one of the victims of the tragic Kentucky cargo plane crash has broken her silence — revealing her son’s final text message, sent just minutes before takeoff. The message, she says, contained only three words — but they’ve shattered hearts across the nation.
Lisa Porter, whose 28-year-old son Ethan was aboard the UPS flight that went down near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, spoke through tears in an exclusive interview on Monday.
“It was short… just three words,” she said. “But it was everything.”
According to investigators, Ethan’s message was sent to his mother at 9:47 p.m., moments before the plane’s last communication with air traffic control. The text simply read:
“See you soon.”
Lisa says she didn’t realize at the time how final those words would become.
“He always said that when he was heading home,” she recalled. “But this time… he never made it.”
The heartbreaking revelation comes as the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) continues to examine new evidence suggesting possible mechanical tampering aboard the aircraft.
Fellow families of victims have gathered outside the crash memorial site, leaving candles and handwritten notes bearing the same three words — a simple message that now symbolizes the loss of an entire community.
“It’s become something bigger than us,” Lisa said softly. “It’s what every family wishes they could hear again.”
As investigators work to uncover what really happened in the final minutes of the flight, “See you soon” has become a haunting reminder — of love, of loss, and of how fragile one message can be when it’s the last.
