New South Wales, Australia — Detectives investigating the mysterious death of Arnie, the family dog whose disappearance and subsequent discovery inside a black Toyota HiLux has shocked the community, have revealed a new and alarming detail: the grass surrounding the vehicle was flattened into a perfect, human-sized circle, indicating that “multiple individuals may have been standing at the scene” on the night Arnie vanished.
Authorities described the discovery as “highly abnormal” and “inconsistent with a lone passerby or a routine disturbance.”
But what police uncovered next — after reviewing nearby CCTV footage — has intensified the investigation dramatically.
A Perfectly Pressed Circle, With Marks Suggesting Movement
Crime scene technicians said the circular impression in the grass was so defined that it could only have been created by people standing close together for an extended period.
“It wasn’t trampled randomly,” an investigator said.
“It was symmetrical — as if two or three individuals stood in the exact same formation for several minutes.”
The soil beneath the pressed grass also showed signs of shifting, suggesting that someone repeatedly adjusted their footing.
“This was not casual,” the investigator added. “It appears intentional.”
CCTV Footage Reveals a Shocking Movement at 3:11 a.m.
After discovering the circular imprint, police returned to nearby CCTV systems to re-examine footage recorded between 2:45 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
At 3:11 a.m., detectives found what they described as “the most critical footage so far.”
The video shows:
-
two shadowed figures approaching the area where the HiLux was parked,
-
both appearing to walk directly into the region where the grass was later found flattened,
-
one figure appearing to carry an object with a faint reflective surface,
-
and a third, smaller shape — believed to be Arnie — visible a few seconds later.
The figures remain stationary in the same spot for at least 40 seconds, matching the circular imprint’s pattern.
Then, in a sudden movement, one figure bends down, and the smaller shape disappears from view behind the vehicle.
“It was coordinated,” police source says
A police source familiar with the footage described the actions as “methodical, not spontaneous.”
“They weren’t wandering around,” the source said.
“They moved with intention, then stood in formation. That’s not how random strangers behave at 3 a.m.”
Owner devastated after watching enhanced clip
When detectives showed the enhanced footage to Arnie’s owners, family members reportedly reacted with disbelief and anguish.
One relative said:
“We expected something confusing or unclear — but not this.
Knowing that more than one person was involved… it’s unbearable.”
The family has since asked for privacy while the investigation intensifies.
Police Now Treating the Case as Coordinated Human Activity
Authorities confirmed that they are now investigating the possibility that:
-
Arnie was taken by more than one individual,
-
the dog may have been lured, not chased,
-
the vehicle was approached with a specific purpose,
-
and the circular formation could indicate a planned action.
Forensic teams are returning to the scene to collect soil samples, footprint impressions, and chemical residue.
Appeal to the Public
Police are urging local residents to:
-
check all home security cameras,
-
report suspicious activity from that night,
-
come forward if they saw multiple individuals near the HiLux.
“This was not a random accident,” a spokesperson emphasized.
“We now believe people were directly involved the night Arnie disappeared.”
