The Lincoln Lawyer Boss Just Confirmed the Bosch Crossover Is OFF — And Fans Aren’t Taking It Well 😱⚖️
No cameos. No crossover. No shared courtroom.
The long-rumored Bosch x Lincoln Lawyer team-up is officially not happening in Season 4 — and showrunner Ted Humphrey just explained why.

With Mickey Haller driving solo this time, fans are torn: can the series still deliver without L.A.’s grittiest detective in the mix?
👇 What was said, why it matters, and what it means for the future of both shows.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller and Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch

The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 is going to drop on Netflix later this year, with Mickey Haller gearing up for the legal case of his life, needing all the help he can get from his team. One The Lincoln Lawyer character we’re definitely not going to see on Mickey’s defense team, however, is his half-brother, detective Harry Bosch, whose onscreen intellectual property rights are in the hands of Netflix’s streaming rivals Amazon. Shows starring Bosch, played by Titus Welliver, have wracked up an enormous following of their own on Prime Video.

According to the source material for The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, Michael Connolly’s novel The Law of Innocence, Harry Bosch should be helping Mickey Haller defend himself against charges of murder, following his arrest at the end of season 3. Because of Amazon’s exclusive rights to video media which includes Bosch, though, Netflix’s Mickey Haller will just have to do without him. On the other hand, we already know that The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 is adding some new cast members to its episodes to help Mickey out, as well as bringing his ex-wife Maggie McPherson into the fold.

In The Law of Innocence, the book on which The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 is based, retired police detective Harry Bosch is very much a part of the team defending Mickey Haller in his trial for murder. This represents the first real Haller-Bosch crossover in one of Michael Connolly’s Lincoln Lawyer novels adapted for the TV show since The Brass Verdict, on which the first season of The Lincoln Lawyer was based. With Mickey fighting for his life and up against prosecution lawyer Dana Berg, he seeks his half-brother’s advice about angles from which to investigate who might have framed him.

Although Harry Bosch is mostly in the background of The Law of Innocence, his investigative expertise gives Mickey an edge his team wouldn’t otherwise have over the prosecution team in the trial.

Bosch appears multiple times in the courtroom during Mickey’s trial, too, offering Haller moral support alongside Maggie and the rest of his team, as he seeks to clear his name. Although Harry Bosch is mostly in the background of The Law of Innocence, his investigative expertise gives Mickey an edge his team wouldn’t otherwise have over the prosecution team in the trial. Without Bosch on Mickey’s side, The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 could have a problem proving its eponymous hero’s innocence.

Bosch Barely Appears In The Book And His Role In Mickey’s Defense Team Is Minor

He Only Really Features In One Scene, Apart From Second-Hand Reports

Nevertheless, it’s important to view Harry Bosch’s absence from The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 with a sense of perspective. Although Bosch’s name appears a total of 119 times in The Law of Innocence, his activity related to Mickey’s case is almost always reported second-hand, as a minor aspect of Haller’s defense. When Bosch himself does star in a scene in which he advises Mickey, it’s incredibly brief and involves two brief pieces of dialogue. In the end, Harry Bosch gets almost no credit for his work, suggesting that it wasn’t actually very important to the case.

There’s plenty of scope for The Lincoln Lawyer to replace Bosch’s minor role in Mickey’s defense team with other supporting characters. Even without Bosch, Netflix’s show did just fine in its adaptation of The Brass Verdict. Haller putting one of his existing subordinates on investigative duties will give them a chance to show what they can do, and play a bigger role than they otherwise would in trying to prove his innocence.

Mickey Will Rely More On Neve Campbell’s Maggie McPherson In The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4

Maggie Will Be Mickey Haller’s Rock Both Professionally And Personally In This Season

While he won’t have Harry Bosch by his side, Mickey Haller will have someone even more important to him back in his life and backing him up all the way. In season 4, Neve Campbell’s Lincoln Lawyer character Maggie McPherson returns as a main character. Maggie might be Mickey’s ex-wife, but they still harbor profound feelings for each other, as was obvious in the earlier seasons of the show. What’s more, this season will see them working closely alongside each other for the first time, as the professional and personal aspects of The Lincoln Lawyer become even more blurred.

Maggie will return to the show all guns blazing as she does everything to secure Mickey’s freedom, even if that means overcoming the best prosecutor of murder cases in the business.

Maggie’s professional expertise isn’t actually as a defense lawyer, but her history with a character set to become The Lincoln Lawyer’s most formidable prosecutor, “Death Row” Dana Berg, will surely play into Mickey’s hands. In addition, it’s hard to imagine a more motivating case than the love of your life standing trial for a murder he didn’t commit. Maggie will return to the show all guns blazing as she does everything to secure Mickey’s freedom, even if that means overcoming the best prosecutor of murder cases in the business.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Is A Chance For The Rest Of Mickey’s Team To Step Up

It’s Time For Lorna, Izzy, And Cisco To Show What They Can Do, Alongside Some New Cast Members

The absence of Harry Bosch in Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 will also provide room for Mickey Haller’s existing legal team, Lorna Crane, Izzy Letts, and Cisco Wojciechowski, to prove their value to him as both legal professionals and friends. We’re going to see Lorna take the lead with this case in a way she hasn’t done before, with Mickey behind bars awaiting trial. The dynamic between Maggie and Lorna will be especially interesting, given that both of them have previously been married to Mickey, and both will see it as their role to take charge of his case.

Izzy, meanwhile, is a paralegal in law training, and through a friendship she strikes up in one of her classes she’s able to add a new Lincoln Lawyer character to Mickey’s defense team. Cisco, of course, is the character most likely to fill the shoes left empty by Harry Bosch’s absence from the show, taking his investigative skills to a whole new level. Even on the inside, Mickey will have more help than he’s ever had with a case before, as new Lincoln Lawyer cast member Marcus Henderson will play Yannick Bamba, Haller’s protector while he’s in jail.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 is already lined up to be one of Netflix’s biggest releases of the year. The show’s third season was Netflix’s most streamed release last year, but now that there’s at least twice as much on the line for Mickey Haller, the platform can expect even more viewers to tune in. Harry Bosch will have to content himself with being among Prime Video’s most-watched characters. Although it’s a shame that he and Mickey can’t share the screen, this is an opportunity for Maggie McPherson, Lorna Crane, and others to become heroes in their own right.
